After Typhoon Alia struck the Sundarbans recently, locals still struggle with logged salt water that renders fertile farming land unusable on Gosaba island, Sundarban, West Bengal, India, on 18th January, 2012. The Sundarban islands and mangroves are sinking, say experts, due to climate change. Locals say they are overwhelmed by tourists' trash that affect the mangroves and sudden changes in weather patterns that have caused such damage that they continue to struggle to recover.
